Cladding – Then and Now

The cladding is going up on our Dream Home. Of course we have weatherboard on the original section of the home, and to keep it original, we had to get these custom milled, but it was worth it. The vertical lines contrast beautifully with the wide horizontal facade. Apparently this was quite controversial when it was built as cladding was almost exclusively all horizontal!

These boards also appeared in their vertical format inside the home and we have decided to keep them on a feature wall in the main room. More on that later when we get to the interior stages of the build.

For the addition our architect Julian Brenchley suggested CSR Barestone cladding. This comes pre-finished, and it creates beautiful lines when hung. The large pieces and finish of this cladding gives this section of the home a minimalistic look and meshes perfectly with our vision. No competing with the original wood making both sections of the home shine as features, but go well together.
